Obituary Dr.-Ing. Udo Wolff
Former IMCI General Manager Udo Wolff has passed away on October, 29thThe news of Dr.-Ing. Udo Wolff's death hit us at IMCI hard and unexpectedly last week. Udo was not only a valued expert on recreational craft certification for many years and a colleague who had a significant influence on IMCI—he was, above all, our friend. For some of us, it was decades during which we worked together with him to make IMCI what it is today. Udo was always a rock in the surf: level-headed and competent, he knew how to give wise advice, and that certainly didn't end at the office door, because he always had an open ear for his colleagues, even when it came to personal matters.
Udo was a listener, a mediator, a peacemaker. He looked at issues from all sides, sometimes for a long time, before coming to a well-founded decision. It was always important to him to take the interests of all parties involved into account as best as possible. Perhaps that was what made him someone you enjoyed spending time with.
During his 25 years at IMCI, Udo recruited many of our current colleagues and played a key role in training most of our inspectors. The numerous expressions of sympathy and respectful reactions from the global IMCI community show that he also made a lasting impression with his characteristic calmness and enormous expertise.
With respect and great gratitude for his work at IMCI, we say a sad good bye to our friend Udo Wolff. Dear Udo, we wish you fair winds and following seas. Thank you so much for everything
Your team at IMCI
